Eco-active ceramics

You’d think that floor and wall ceramics are essentially inert; GranitiFiandre is putting them to work – its ACTIVE Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic has a photocatalytic surface; in the presence of air and light, a powerful oxidative process is triggered to promote decomposition of pollutants that come into contact with it.

The photocatalyst in Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) in the form of micrometric particles fixed at high temperatures. The process transforms pollutants into harmless compounds, with obvious benefits for human health. A neat feature is that the coating is not directly involved or consumed in the oxidation process, so the action remains unchanged over time.

As for the antibacterial claims, photocatalysis does not kill bacteria cells directly but it does irreparable damage the cell walls causing their death.

ACTIVE Clean & Air Antibacterial Ceramic is suitable for flooring and coverings of small and large surfaces, and from mild to intense traffic, in public and private areas. GranitiFiandre says it has particular applications in environments where hygiene is of primary importance: schools and kindergartens, hospitals, and clinics, hotels and homes.
